Subject: Single Release "TSUNAMI"
BANQUISE turn the storm inward with TSUNAMI, their most exposed and emotionally raw release to date. After the public reckoning of BLLSHT, this new single steps away from the world outside and into the chaos within. It is a confession written in the language of waves, an admission that the deepest threats often rise from inside us.
Built on widescreen melodies, anthemic clean vocals and breakdowns that crash like surf against rock, TSUNAMI charts the territory between drowning and learning to swim. Anxiety, sleepless nights, the slow erosion of meaning. The song does not dramatize any of it. It simply names what is already there, and asks who could possibly answer.
“I wanna break it all, ride this wave inside me. Who’ll save me from my own Tsunami.”
If BLLSHT was the verdict thrown at the world, TSUNAMI is the question whispered to the ceiling at four in the morning. It marks a deliberate emo-leaning turn for Banquise, heavier on melody, heavier on heart, but no less massive when the choruses break. There is no posture here, only the honesty of someone who has already sunk a thousand times and learned, somehow, to keep swimming.
TSUNAMI follows BLLSHT and the EP Bleak, and it sets the tone for what is coming next: a body of work that refuses to look away from anything, including the self. Two weeks after release, BANQUISE bring TSUNAMI to the stage on a four-date run starting June 10 at LE CARTILAGE in Paris, followed by Rennes, Nantes and Chambéry.
